Self-Intro – Maura O’Brien

In my 20 years, I have never traveled so far. However, I am happy to say that the tumultuous journey was worth the incredible destination. Upon arriving in Australia I felt my legs could give out, I was exhausted but also immensely excited, impatiently awaiting my first opportunity to explore. Despite my overwhelming excitement, after the long journey of 30 some odd hours, I wasn’t feeling well enough to make it to the orientation dinner. Luckily I was able to sleep very soundly that first night and woke up refreshed and enthusiastic for a great first day of class. With […]

This is the space for your weekly journals. Week 1 Reflection – Jan 20th This week I decided to walk through the Royal Botanical Gardens next to the Sydney Opera House. The gardens themselves were beautiful, with well-kept grace and beautiful flowers, but the best part can be seen in this image above. This week in Sydney has been incredible. The picture above was taken after a dinner with Dean Kepner where after, we walked along the Sydney harbor. We have had the privilege of being able to explore the amazing city and we have also been able to visit some of the famous landmarks in Sydney including the Sydney Opera House. It was beautiful to witness this in person and I am looking forward to exploring more of what Sydney has to offer. Week 2 Journal – Jan. 27 Before I came to Sydney, I had heard so much about the beaches. […]

Week 1: Sydney The first weeks in Australia left me with an impression of friendly people, amazing food, and beautiful weather & nature. I got some food recommendations from professors and stumbled upon others through my travels. Some of my favorite spots to eat include a Taiwanese restaurant, a bread shop, and a Korean fried chicken restaurant. After class, I like to go grab some quick food before heading back to Oaks Goldberg. This has been a great start to my 8 week’s stay in one of the most beautiful countries in the world. Week 2: Walkabout Park, and Sydney […]

This is the space for your weekly journals. As the second week is winding down in Sydney, Australia it is a great time for an update on what I have been up to the past 14 days or so. Below are a few things I have been up to recently. To start from the beginning, the travel here definitely was taxing and tiring but certainly worth it. I believe we spent about 20 or so hours in an airplane. After arriving and starting classes I focused on getting myself accustomed with the city and trying to get ahead of the […]
